Bounty / Bug Bounty

What is a bounty or bug bounty?

Bounty / Bug Bounty Definition: A bug bounty is a program that allows specific types of hackers access to test the organization’s database, including weak areas of the platform or network, which may provide insight into the application’s vulnerabilities.

Some companies may allow numerous hackers a chance to test their site as a way to ensure they can build enough protection in the long-term against common attacks, which ultimately makes the application more secure for users and investors. When vulnerabilities are detected, they are reported back to the company so that a solution can be designed to safeguard the application.
