What does home insurance cover?

Home insurance policies differ, therefore, the type of policy you obtain will determine what exactly is insured.

Home insurance policies may typically cover damage of house, personal property, etc. Below are more examples of the home insurance policies cover:

  1. Damage to/loss of your house or other structures on your property,
  2. Damage/loss/theft of your personal property,
  3. Injury to others due to your property, and
  4. Property stolen from your vehicle.

In contrast, there are certain costs and losses that home insurance does not cover. These include costs that arise from a lack of maintenance, wear and tear, property taxes, the land your house occupies, and condominium fees.
